The EQS SUV has a standard Post Collision Brake, which automatically applies the brakes in the event of a crash to help prevent secondary collisions and prevent further injuries. The Electrified GV70 doesn’t offer a post collision braking system: in the event of a collision that triggers the airbags, more collisions are possible without the protection of airbags that may have already deployed.

Earlier warning of stopped traffic, traffic signals, dangerous road conditions, weather, or accidents, can keep driver's safer and prevent crashes. The EQS SUV has Car-to-X Communication, a system that seamlessly communicates important warnings to the driver about impending danger, if they're available. The Electrified GV70 doesn’t offer a system that can receive automated systems from infrastructure or other vehicles.

Both the EQS SUV and the Electrified GV70 have standard driver and passenger frontal airbags, front side-impact airbags, driver knee airbags, front seat center airbag, side-impact head airbags, front and rear seatbelt pretensioners, height adjustable front shoulder belts, four-wheel antilock brakes, all wheel drive, traction control, electronic stability systems to prevent skidding, crash mitigating brakes, daytime running lights, lane departure warning systems, blind spot warning systems, rearview cameras, rear cross-path warning and driver alert monitors.

The Mercedes EQS SUV weighs 994 to 1576 pounds more than the Genesis Electrified GV70. The NHTSA advises that heavier vehicles are much safer in collisions than their significantly lighter counterparts.

Warranty

There are over 76 percent more Mercedes dealers than there are Genesis dealers, which makes it much easier should you ever need service under the EQS SUV’s warranty.

Engine

The EQS SUV 400 4MATIC’s standard electric motors produces 74 lbs.-ft. more torque (590 vs. 516) than the Electrified GV70’s electric motors. The EQS SUV 550 4MATIC’s standard electric motors produces 53 more horsepower (536 vs. 483) and 117 lbs.-ft. more torque (633 vs. 516) than the Electrified GV70’s electric motors. The Maybach EQS 680’s standard electric motors produces 166 more horsepower (649 vs. 483) and 184 lbs.-ft. more torque (700 vs. 516) than the Electrified GV70’s electric motors.

For better stopping power the EQS SUV’s brake rotors are larger than those on the Electrified GV70:

Tires and Wheels

For better traction, the EQS SUV has larger standard tires than the Electrified GV70 (275/45R21 vs. 235/55R19). The EQS SUV’s optional tires are larger than the largest tires available on the Electrified GV70 (F:275/40R22 & R:285/40R22 vs. 265/45R20).

The EQS SUV’s standard tires provide better handling because they have a lower 45 series profile (height to width ratio) that provides a stiffer sidewall than the Electrified GV70’s standard 55 series tires. The EQS SUV’s optional tires have a lower 40 series profile than the Electrified GV70 AWD Advanced/Prestige’s 45 series tires.

For better ride, handling and brake cooling the EQS SUV has standard 21-inch wheels. Smaller 19-inch wheels are standard on the Electrified GV70. The EQS SUV’s optional 22-inch wheels are larger than the 20-inch wheels on the Electrified GV70 AWD Advanced/Prestige.

Changing a flat tire near traffic can be dangerous and inconvenient. The run-flat tires available on the EQS SUV can be driven up to 50 miles without any air pressure, allowing you to drive to a service station for a repair. The Electrified GV70 doesn’t offer run-flat tires.

Suspension and Handling

The front and rear suspension of the EQS SUV uses air springs for a smoother, controlled ride than the Electrified GV70, which uses coil springs. Air springs maintain proper ride height and ride more smoothly.

The EQS SUV has a standard automatic front and rear load leveling suspension to keep ride height level with a heavy load or when towing. The EQS SUV’s height leveling suspension allows the driver to raise ride height for better off-road clearance and then lower it again for easier entering and exiting and better on-road handling. The Electrified GV70 doesn’t offer a load leveling suspension.

The EQS SUV has vehicle speed sensitive variable-assist power steering, for low-effort parking, better control at highway speeds and during hard cornering, and a better feel of the road. The Electrified GV70 doesn’t offer variable-assist power steering.

The EQS SUV’s drift compensation steering can automatically compensate for road conditions which would cause the vehicle to drift from side to side, helping the driver to keep the vehicle straight more easily. The Electrified GV70 doesn’t offer drift compensation steering.

For a smoother ride and more stable handling, the EQS SUV’s wheelbase is 13.2 inches longer than on the Electrified GV70 (126.4 inches vs. 113.2 inches).

The EQS SUV handles at .86 G’s, while the Electrified GV70 Prestige pulls only .83 G’s of cornering force in a Motor Trend skidpad test.

For better maneuverability, the Maybach EQS 680’s turning circle is 1.8 feet tighter than the Electrified GV70’s (36 feet vs. 37.8 feet).

For greater off-road capability the EQS SUV has a greater minimum ground clearance than the Electrified GV70 (7.3 vs. 6.9 inches), allowing the EQS SUV to travel over rougher terrain without being stopped or damaged. The EQS SUV 550 4MATIC’s minimum ground clearance is .9 inch higher than on the Electrified GV70 (7.8 vs. 6.9 inches).

Passenger Space

The EQS SUV offers optional seating for 7 passengers; the Electrified GV70 can only carry 5.

Cargo Capacity

The EQS SUV has a larger cargo volume with its rear seat folded than the Electrified GV70 with its rear seat folded (74.2 vs. 56.5 cubic feet).

Towing

Optional Trailer Stability Assist on the EQS SUV uses the Electronic Stability Program sensors to detect trailer sway, then uses individual brakes to counteract any swaying and help keep the tow vehicle and trailer steady. The Electrified GV70 doesn’t offer electronic trailer sway control.

Ergonomics

Unlike the driver-only memory system in the Electrified GV70 Advanced/Prestige, the EQS SUV has standard driver and passenger memory, so that when drivers switch, the memory setting adjusts the driver’s seat, steering wheel position, outside mirror angle and climate settings and the front passenger seat also adjusts to the new passenger’s preset preferences.

If the windows are left open on the EQS SUV the driver can close all of them at the outside door handle or from a distance using the remote. On a hot day the driver can also lower the windows the same way. The driver of the Electrified GV70 can only close the windows from inside the vehicle, with the ignition on.

The EQS SUV’s optional power side swing out doors make it much easier to load and unload kids and cargo. One touch opens the door, before you even get to the sport utility. The Electrified GV70 doesn’t offer a power rear door.

Heated windshield washer fluid is optional on the EQS SUV to defrost the washer nozzles and quickly clear ice and frost from the windshield without scraping. The Electrified GV70 doesn’t offer heated windshield washer fluid.

Consumer Reports rated the EQS SUV’s headlight performance “Very Good,” a higher rating than the Electrified GV70’s headlights, which were rated “Good.”

To better shield the driver and front passenger’s vision, the EQS SUV Maybach has standard dual-element sun visors that can block glare from two directions simultaneously. The Electrified GV70 doesn’t offer secondary sun visors.

The Mercedes EQS SUV has power folding mirrors that offer unparalleled convenience while maneuvering in tight places or parked. With the mirrors folded it’s easier to walk past and help prevent parking damage. The mirrors can be quickly unfolded when the driver is ready to leave. Power folding mirrors are only offered on the Electrified GV70 Advanced/Prestige.

The EQS SUV has standard front air conditioned seats and the EQS SUV Maybach also has them in the second row. This keeps the passengers comfortable and takes the sting out of hot seats in summer. The Electrified GV70 doesn’t offer air-conditioned seats in the rear.

Both the EQS SUV and the Electrified GV70 offer available massaging front seats. The EQS SUV Maybach also has standard massaging second row seats in order to maximize comfort and eliminate fatigue on long trips. Massaging rear seats aren’t available in the Electrified GV70.

Both the Mercedes EQS SUV and the Genesis Electrified GV70 have a standard Qi wireless phone charging system in the front seat. To easily keep personal devices charged in the second row seat, without cables tangling and wearing out, the EQS SUV also has a standard wireless charging system in the second row seat. The Electrified GV70 does not.
